The flag was designed by Michael Page in 1998 to give the community its own symbol comparable to the gay pride flag. His aim was to increase visibility of bisexuals among society as a whole and within the LGBTQ+ community. The first bisexual pride flag was unveiled at the BiCafe’s first-anniversary party on December 5, 1998.
The pink repsents same-sex/gender attraction. The blue is for different sex/gender attraction. And the purple is to represent the attraction across the gender spectrum.
